June is National Safety Month

Hi Maricopa,

Did you know that June is National Safety Month?

The National Safety Council says:

"Stay Safe at Work and Home.  Preventable injuries, commonly known as “accidents,” are the fourth leading cause of U.S. deaths.  Join us in observing National Safety Month as we work together to highlight leading causes of preventable injury and death so people can live their fullest lives.”

From emergency preparedness, to slips falls and trips, to heat-related illnesses, to hazard recognition, assess your environment to make positive changes and improvements for you and your family to minimize preventable episodes.  Not only at home, but any “environment” can be improved; your workplace, school, car, grocery store, place of worship, etc.  Stay alert and be observant.  If you notice something hazardous, bring it to the attention of those who can help.  Even your car needs attention and should be kept in optimal working/performance mode for your safety and the safety of others.  With the heat upon us, staying hydrated is crucial. Keeping walkways clear and free from debris can help minimize trips and falls.  Small changes add-up to big results.  What changes can you make to improve your chances of living your fullest life?

Have fun, Maricopa, and stay safe!
